The town of Leucate is a very neat little windsurfing center. There are options for all type of sailing. In the protected lake there is excellent slalom, speed, and freestyle sailing. Wave sailing is available on the ocean side of the lake. Windsurfing rentals are available. Catch the infamous Tramontane winds blowing through mountains to the north into the lake.

How to get there
From Leucate take the motorway on the west side of the village and drive south. After about 1.1km when the street turns left turn right and follow this dirt road for about 800m until you reach the spot.
Wind and Weather Conditions
Nice temperatures, air and water. During winter wetsuit is needed. It is in the South of France so expect nice weather. Recommended wind for kitesurfing is wind coming from SE and NW . The dominant wind is the Tramontane, no other wind has really a chance against it. It is a wind which blows from Northwest. This wind is created by an anticyclone over the south west of France and a depression over the Mediterranean. When the Tramontane blows it normally blows very strong. Statistics say that there are 300 days a year with a wind over force four. The other wind direction is the Marin which blows from SE. Wind usually blows from SE and NW on the spot.
